25plus.ie offer three home insurance options, they are as follows:

  • Buildings Only
  • Contents Only
  • Buildings and Contents

Definition of Buildings

The private home at the address shown in the policy schedule. The Buildings are made up of two parts, namely:

  1. The Private House (which includes garages with direct access from the Private House) including fixtures and fittings therein and thereon, occupied for residential purposes only, built with brick, stone or concrete and roofed substantially with slates, tiles, or other incombustible materials; and
  2. Domestic outbuildings, detached garages, swimming pools, tennis courts, including fixtures and fittings therein and thereon, fuel storage tanks and their contents, terraces, patios, driveways, footpaths, walls, gates and fences, lawns, hedges; all situate as stated on Your Home Insurance Schedule on a site not exceeding two acres in area.

Definition of Contents

Household goods, including fittings and fixtures, and personal effects belonging to you (or for which you are legally responsible) or belonging to members of your household and domestic employees permanently residing with you, all in the private house and domestic outbuildings.

Definition of Personal Possessions

Items normally worn, used or carried by you or your family in daily life, but not money, credit cards or items held or used for business purposes.

Definition of Money

Cash, cheques, postal and money orders, savings stamps and certificates, unused current postage stamps, premium bonds, traveller’s cheques, travel tickets, gift tokens, but not items used for business purposes or forming part of a collection.

Definition of Personal Effects

Items normally worn, used or carried by you or your family in daily life, but not money, credit cards or items held or used for business purposes.

Definition of Home Office Equipment

Computers, keyboards, visual display units, printers, word-processing equipment, desktop publishing units, fax machines, photocopiers, typewriters, computer-aided design equipment, telecommunication equipment (but not mobile phones) and office furniture, which You or Your family own.

Accidental Damage

Accidental damage cover to the contents in addition to the perils listed above.

Unspecified Items

We will cover your Personal Effects, Jewellery, Photographic Equipment, Clothing and Sports Equipment anywhere in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Great Britain, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, and for not more than 60 days in any one period of insurance while elsewhere in the world, up to the total value selected.

Please note: The maximum sum insured per item is €1,000 (exclusions and restrictions apply).

Specified Items

We will cover your valuables anywhere in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Great Britain, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, and for not more than 60 days in any one period of insurance while elsewhere in the world and up to the value insured on your policy.

Please note: A valuation within the last 2 years is required for items valued at €5,000 or more.

Pedal Cycles

We will cover your pedal cycles for accidental loss or damage by theft or attempted theft while being used by you or any member of your household whilst away from your home provided the pedal cycle(s) are specified on your Policy Schedule.

Family Accident Protection

If an insured person suffers bodily injury during the time of cover and period of insurance, which within two years solely and independently of any other cause results in death, loss of sight, loss of limbs, permanent total disability, or hospitalisation.

Disaster Mortgage/Cash Cover

We will pay You the sum equivalent to Your monthly mortgage payment if a covered loss renders Your primary residence temporarily uninhabitable for a period exceeding 72 hours following the event.

Your AIG Home Cover Policy incorporates DAS Family Legal Protection. You are now protected by Europe’s leading legal expenses insurer.

Cover Included

Contract Disputes

DAS will negotiate for an insured person’s legal rights in a contractual dispute arising from an agreement or an alleged agreement which an insured has entered into for: (a) buying or hiring in goods or services; or (b) selling goods; Provided that: (i) the insured person has entered into the agreement or alleged agreement during the period of insurance; and (ii) the amount in dispute is more than €150.

Identity Theft

Identity theft support service following a call to the identity theft helpline, DAS will help restore an insured person’s identity and credit status if they have become a victim of identity theft. DAS will assign a personal case worker who will provide phone advice to help regain an insured person’s identity.

Bodily Injury

DAS will negotiate for an insured person’s legal rights in a claim against a party who causes the death of, or bodily injury to, an insured person. This includes helping an insured person to register their claim with the Injuries Board (IB).

Clinical Negligence

DAS will negotiate for an insured person’s legal rights where it is alleged that accidental death or bodily injury to an insured person has resulted from a single negligent act of surgery, clinical or medical.

Employment Disputes

DAS will negotiate for an insured person’s legal rights in a dispute relating to their contract of employment or future employment.

Property Protection

DAS will negotiate for an insured person’s legal rights in a civil action; and/or arrange mediation (if appropriate); for a dispute relating to material property (including the insured person’s principal and holiday home) which is legally owned by an insured person, or for which an insured person is responsible, following:

  1. An event which causes physical damage to such material property, provided that the amount in dispute is more than €150;
  2. A legal nuisance (meaning any unlawful interference with an insured person’s use or enjoyment of their land, or some right over, or in connection with it);
  3. A trespass

Tax Protection

In the event of a revenue commissioner’s audit relating to an insured person’s self-assessment tax return, DAS will negotiate for an insured person, and represent them in any appeal proceedings.

Jury Service and Court Attendance

An insured person’s absence from work:

  1. To attend any court or tribunal at the request of the representative ; or
  2. To perform jury service; or
  3. To carry out activities specified by the identity theft support service

Home insurance policies incepted prior to December 2019, are provided by Eversure Residential Home which is a Home Insurance policy designed by Stuart Insurances Ltd and underwritten by SureStone Insurance DAC. SureStone Insurance DAC is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.

Going forward, the 25plus.ie Home Product will be provided by AIG Europe S.A.
